Technology integration is a vital component of Alexander City Schools, serving as a catalyst for opportunity by expanding equitable access and fostering the deeper engagement necessary to improve learning outcomes. When technology-enhanced learning experiences are intentionally aligned with Alabama standards, they increase students’ exposure to people, places, and opportunities they might not otherwise encounter.
Through the continuous improvement efforts of our faculty and staff, students will have meaningful opportunities to develop and refine essential 21st-century skills—communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. These skills will be strengthened through activities such as:
- authentic, real-world communication and collaboration using interactive video and open-ended questions that encourage the use of academic language in whole-group, small-group, and individual settings;
- digital content, including interactive mind maps, graphic organizers, and productivity tools that support live research, highlighting, annotation, and commenting;
- live, interactive learning experiences with peers and experts from various fields and locations around the world; and
- collaborative projects that build problem-solving, critical-thinking abilities, empathy, and the soft skills essential for working effectively with others.
Alexander City Schools recognizes that we are not preparing students for a 21st-century world—they are already living in it. Together, we embrace our responsibility to equip them to navigate the world they inhabit today and to innovate the one they will shape tomorrow.
